Irish Cavalier set for Paddy Power test at Cheltenham

Rebecca Curtis is to aim Irish Cavalier at the Paddy Power Gold Cup despite her reservations about him being susceptible as one of the top weights.
The Newport trainer believes the six-year-old, who made a winning reappearance at Newton Abbot a month ago, is improving and could be the type to step up in class.
However, she will see how he performs in the valuable handicap chase at Cheltenham on November 14 first before looking any further.
"He's gone up to 156 so he's either going to be a graded horse if he keeps progressing or he's kind of set at the top of the handicap," Curtis told At The Races.
"Speaking to Paul Townend after he'd won at Newton Abbot he feels the horse has improved from last season.
"The Paddy Power is the kind of race you can get beaten by a lower weight which is why we did fancy the Charlie Hall (at Wetherby last weekend) but that opportunity went so I think we will run him in the Paddy Power.
"We'll see how he goes and make a plan from there then."
Irish Cavalier is currently 12-1 with the sponsors.
