Conditional jockey Bridget Andrews was detained overnight in hospital in Aintree, but only as a precaution following her fall on Upepito on Saturday.

A former champion lady amateur rider, Andrews, who turned professional in the spring, suffered a possible abdominal injury when kicked after being unseated from the Dan Skelton-trained seven-year-old at the 10th fence in the Betfred 'Scoop6 Soccer' Handicap Chase.

However, Skelton reported Andrews appeared to have escaped serious injury and was just "battered and bruised".

"They kept her in hospital under surveillance. Basically, they just wanted to make sure everything's okay," he said.

"They found little bits and pieces but nothing that anyone was particularly worried about. There are no fractures or breaks, they just want to keep an eye on her. She's a bit sore round the stomach.

"They are not worried. She's basically fine and could come home. They just don't want any complications. It's just doctor's orders.
