Waterlogged Ffos Las is called off

Friday's meeting at Ffos Las has been abandoned due a waterlogged track.

The Carmarthenshire circuit has been hit by heavy rain throughout the week and after calling an impromptu inspection for 2pm on Thursday, officials were left with no option but to draw stumps.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "Very reluctantly, we've had to abandon. We had plenty of rain last weekend and in the early part of the week, but we were expecting it to be dry today and on Friday.

"Unfortunately it all went wrong as it's been raining here all day and the course is now properly waterlogged with standing water in a number of areas."

The afternoon jumps racing fixtures at Ascot and Haydock Park are both expected to go ahead without any problems.
