Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham for Evan Williams' King's Odyssey

Evan Williams already has next season's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in mind for King's Odyssey after the progressive young novice was successful there on Saturday.
The Llancarfan trainer will wait until King's Odyssey is reassessed by the handicapper before deciding on targets for the rest of this campaign.
"It was nice to see him win a race like that," said Williams.
"He's come out of the race remarkably well considering the ground was very testing. Let's see what the handicapper does [he was put up by 8lbs to 147]. We can have a look and think about things then.
"He's a grand type of horse and enjoyed the track there.
"We were second in the Paddy Power with a similar type this season. He's a horse I'd say that type of race would lend itself nicely to, a second-season novice."
In contrast, Williams is to lower On Tour's sights after the eight-year-old was well beaten at Doncaster on Saturday as he tried to supplement victories at Exeter and Carlisle in November.
"He ran no race. I think in a competitive handicap he's not up to it," said the trainer.
"He's won a couple of soft novice chases and in those competitive handicaps he's never really shown anything. I think we'll lower our sights somewhat."
