Neil Mulholland plans to run both The Young Master and Carole's Destrier in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown after the pair met with contrasting fortunes at Cheltenham.

The Young Master bounced back to form to finish third to Un Temps Pour Tout in the Ultima Handicap Chase, while Carole's Destrier was pulled up in the same race. However, Mulholland feels the latter had a valid excuse.

"It was a great effort from The Young Master, probably a career-best against two very well treated horses on their best form," said Mulholland.

"He'll head for the Bet365 Gold Cup next, as will Carole's Destrier. He was pulled up in the same race but he made a very early mistake and never got involved after that.

"Noel (Fehily) jumped off him and told me I should run him in the Midlands National but I'd already taken him out.

"He finished as fresh as a daisy, he wasn't blowing, he just couldn't get back into the race."

Another of Mulholland's Cheltenham runners to perform with credit was Fox Norton who finished third in the Arkle.

"Fox Norton will head to Aintree and Punchestown," said the trainer.

"He had good form, he hadn't been beaten far by Garde Le Victoire earlier in the season and now he's finished third in the Arkle.

"I knew he wouldn't disgrace himself on good ground and Aintree should suit him even better."
