A review of the action from Market Rasen, where the back-to-form Richard Newland saddled a treble with Sam Twiston-Davies.

Dr Richard Newland went some way to making up for the disappointment of his 2014 Grand National hero Pineau De Re failing to make the cut for this year's race when combining with Sam Twiston-Davies to dominate the card at Market Rasen on Sunday.

While having to make do without having a runner in the Aintree showpiece, the Claines handler found himself, together with Twiston-Davies, landing treble at the Lincolnshire track thanks to victories from Young Dillon, Discay and Express Du Berlais.

Young Dillon (5/4) bettered his two previous efforts when getting the ball rolling for the pair with a six-length win in the racinguk.com maiden hurdle, before Twiston-Davies demonstrated his best rodeo skills when surviving a last-fence blunder aboard Discay (9/4) to post an 18-length victory in the Join The Racing UK Club Handicap Chase.

The duo completed their haul after Express Du Berlais (2/1) registered his first win since last May when cruising home by 11 lengths in the Racing UK In Glorious HD Handicap Chase.

Newland said: "Young Dillon is a promising horse. He didn't jump as well as he could, but he would probably want better ground as it is soft enough out there. He had a couple of minor injuries last summer, but I was expecting a good run from him.

"He stayed on very well and I would be hopeful that he is one that we could keep going through summer. Three miles on better ground would suit him better.

"It was great to see Discay get his head back in front and Sam did a wonderful job on him. It was nice to see him find some form.

"I just think it was the right race for him what with the small field. I think despite making those mistakes he was impressive in how he powered away at the end.

"We just gave Express Du Berlais a bit of a break. He has come back on slightly better ground in a lower grade and he has performed very well. The tongue strap clearly helped as he has had wind issues in the past."

Champion jockey-elect Richard Johnson gained winner number 224 of the campaign when forcing home the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Dream Berry (7/4) to a nose success in the opening Racing UK Day Pass Just 10 Novices' Hurdle.

Ten Trees (13/2), from the yard of Alan Swinbank, stayed on strongly from a seemingly impossible position to plunder the racinguk.com/daypass Handicap Haurdle by three and a quarter lengths.

Henry Brooke, deputising for the injured Brian Hughes, needed only to use hands and heels to push out the Malcolm Jefferson-trained newcomer Mount Mews (10/1) to a stylish two-and-a-quarter-length victory in the concluding Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race.

The Robin Dickin-trained Under The Phone (5/2) struck for the first time over fences when taking The Racing UK Now In HD! Novices' Limited Handicap Chase by six lengths.
