Bondi Beach features among eight horses left in the Betway Yorkshire Cup at York on Friday following the confirmation stage.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt had a busy first campaign last year which saw him develop in to a promising young stayer.

He was probably best remembered for being edged out by Simple Verse in a controversial renewal of the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.

He was a Classic winner, only briefly, as he was awarded the race by the local stewards on the day but that was overturned on appeal with Simple Verse being re-instated.

Bondi Beach was then handed a stiff test by going to Australia for the Melbourne Cup in which he was not disgraced and he has already shown he was over that by making a winning reappearance at Limerick last month.

His potential rivals include Peter Niven's admirable performer Clever Cookie, who has finished second on both his starts so far this season.

Luca Cumani is represented by Second Step, who ran in Group Ones in Germany, Ireland and Canada last term and won a Group Two at Newmarket.

Completing the eight are David Simcock's Curbyourenthusiasm, John Gosden's Flying Officer, the Richard Fahey-trained Suegioo and Amanda Perrett's pair of Astronereus and Glaring.
