Racegoers will enjoy free entry at Musselburgh's meeting on Monday May 9.

The initiative to waive the normal £20 entry charge is supported by the East Lothian track's on-course bookmakers. The first of seven races is off at 2.10pm and gates open at noon.

Musselburgh Racecourse marketing manager, Aisling Johnston, said: "We are grateful for the support of our on-course bookmakers who make our free day possible and we hope a large number will take advantage of this offer."

The meeting will also feature the new Flat course paddock bend in operation for the first time.

One trainer who could have a winner at Musselburgh on Monday is Iain Jardine, who has his horses in decent form, and another good run is expected from Archipeligo.

The Carrutherstown raider, who was fourth over hurdles at Wetherby last Wednesday, faces thirteen rivals in the Central Taxis Faster, Greener, Safter Handicap over 1m 4f.

Jardine, whose Nakeeta was a short-head second in the Chester Cup last week, said: "He ran well at Wetherby in first time cheekpieces and we're keeping on them on. He's won three times on the all-weather and once on turf and is real fun horse to have around."

Among the opposition to Archipeligo is Jammy Moment who was fifth of five on his debut for Keith Dalgleish at Musselburgh recently.

And Graham Lee takes the ride on McVicar, successful for Durham trainer John Davies at Thirsk recently.

Musselburgh's other May meeting is 'Friday Night at the Race's supported by Belmont Wallyford (27th) before it prepares for the two seasonal highlight meetings in June, The Edinburgh Cup Raceday sponsored by Edinburgh Gin (4 June) and Stobo Castle Ladies Day (11 June) featuring the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup.
