Henry Candy expects Twilight Son to be a different proposition in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Haydock Sprint Cup winner finished a fair fifth on his return in the Duke of York Stakes behind Magical Memory on the Knavesmire.

With that being his first run of the season and the fact he was giving away 5lb to all of his rivals it looked a decent return but Candy thinks he will strip much fitter next month.

"Twilight Son is absolutely fine," said Candy. "He just got a bit lonely in the position he found himself in on the track and was never really involved at any stage.

"He needed the run badly, blew up and then ran on again. I'm sure we'll see a different horse at Ascot."
