Owen Burrows plots path for Markaz

Owen Burrows has ruled out a quick return to action at Doncaster's St Leger meeting for Markaz after he was awarded the Group Two Golden Peitsche at Baden-Baden on Sunday.
The dual Group Three winner crossed the line in second, but first-past-the-post Donnerschlag was placed fourth after he was adjudged to have interfered with David O'Meara's Watchable.
"No one likes winning races in the stewards' room and it didn't even affect us, but we'll take it," said Burrows.
"He'd won two Group Threes but was just falling short in Group Two company here, so it was a logical race to go for.
"It was nice to get him back over six furlongs because in England if you are not a Group One horse there aren't many options over six.
"He won't run in the Park Stakes as that will come too soon, I'll have to get my head in the book as for where next.
"I was considering a Group Three at Ascot in October with a penalty, but now he'll have a Group Two penalty so that's probably out.
"Getting that Group Two win was important because he's a brother to Mecca's Angel so he's probably got a job to look forward to after racing.
"There is talk of an appeal by connections of the winner, so we'll just have to see what happens."
