Ian Williams thrilled with Gas Line Boy

Ian Williams could look towards next year's Foxhunters' Chase over the Aintree fences for Gas Line Boy following his impressive display in this year's Grand National.
Having been a first-fence casualty on his inaugural attempt at the race in 2015, the 11-year-old put in a more assured round of jumping to finish fifth in this year's renewal.
Although not ruling the former Philip Hobbs-trained gelding out of third attempt at the big race next year, Williams is considering dropping him back in trip for a tilt at the amateur riders' contest instead.
He said: "We were very proud of him. Our expectations going into the race were not for him to be as competitive as he was. We were hoping for a clear round and for him to come back safe and sound.
"He jumped fantastically. He and Robbie Dunne negotiated fences and various mishaps very well. I nudged the wife going over two out and said 'we have got a chance of being placed here'. Sadly his stamina didn't quite hold out and he got run out of a place late on.
"He ran very much above our expectations and we are delighted how he took to the track and we were thrilled with the ride Robbie gave him.
"That is him done for the season now. We will certainly have a good look at the race next year, but there are other options. We might come back to have a go at the Foxhunters' instead, but we will see nearer the time."
