Peter Bowen is still keen for Rolling Maul to take his chance in the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday week despite a disappointing run last time out.
The nine-year-old won his first three starts on the level but was beaten a long way at Ffos Las last time out.
It is still not certain whether he will make the cut for the marathon handicap and if not, Bowen will reroute him to Cheltenham instead.
Bowen said: "If he gets in the Cesarewitch he will go there, if not he will go to Cheltenham at the end of the month for a three-mile handicap hurdle in which James (Bowen) will take 7lb off.
"I think it is 50-50 if he gets in. It is very difficult to tell. He was disappointing at Ffos Las, but it was very heavy ground. Ffos Las heavy ground is proper heavy ground."
