Bridget Andrews falls from Stick To The Pan nearing Southwell finish line
Wednesday 4 October 2017 11:28, UK
Jockey Bridget Andrews admitted she had "no excuses" after falling from Stick To The Plan yards from the winning line at Southwell.
The 7/4 favourite in the 4.20 on Tuesday seemed to have victory in the bag having jumped the last and pulling further clear.
But jockey Andrews lost her balance on the run-in when her foot came out of the iron and she slipped to the turf with victory only moments away.
The mishap allowed Nemean Lion (9/1), who had looked booked for second place, to bag an extremely fortuitous victory.
The 24-year-old Andrews was naturally extremely disappointed and tweeted: "So sorry to everyone I let down today!
"No excuses. I fell off and I will make sure it doesn't happen again!"
