It's a big day at both Newcastle and Lingfield, with the Eider Chase and Winter Derby headlining Saturday's live action on Sky Sports Racing.

2.43 Newcastle - Anglers Crag and Mr Vango headline 10 runners

Anglers Crag and Mr Vango headline 10 runners for a super renewal of the Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Eider Handicap Chase at Gosforth Park.

Anglers Crag took this prize in 2024 when trained by Brian Ellison and warmed up for another crack when winning on debut for Nicky Richards at Catterick. He is up 8lb for that easy success but remains just 4lb higher than his previous win in the race.

Last year's winner Knockanore merits respect after his emphatic display 12 months ago but will need to be at his very best from 10lb out of the weights.

Sara Bradstock's Mr Vango produced a terrific round of jumping when winning the Midlands Grand National and was a narrow second in the Becher on his first start back in December. He failed to fire when pulled up at Sandown on his last outing but had excuses on that occasion and is fancied to return to form over this longer trip.

Welsh Grand National fourth Livin On Luco is worth a mention for the Philip Hobbs and Johnson White yard, if he can fare better stepping up to four miles for the first time. Fortunate Man represents JP McManus and is of interest having been dropped down to 128.

2.00 Lingfield - Chancellor and Boiling Point feature in Winter Derby

A competitive and classy renewal of the Group Three Midnite Winter Derby sees Chancellor and Boiling Point among five runners.

Also See:

The John and Thady Gosden-trained Chancellor has long been considered a talented individual but is only now reaching his potential having undergone wind and gelding operations. He outpointed Tyrrhenian Sea to take the Tandridge Stakes at Southwell last time and steps up to 10f under Robert Havlin.

Nebras, the mount of Ryan Moore, is an improving four-year-old and he showed an excellent attitude to see off the same rival in the Quebec Stakes over this course and distance last time. He could be open to further progress and looks a big threat to his stablemate Chancellor at a track that suits.

Karl Burke's Boiling Point is top-rated with a mark of 114 and last year's Cambridgeshire winner must be considered if able to dominate from the front under Sam James.

1.25 Lingfield - 2024 winner Diligent Harry heads the betting

All-weather specialist Diligent Harry tops a field of six for the Midnite Hever Sprint Stakes that opens the afternoon at Lingfield.

Clive Cox's stable stalwart recorded a ninth career victory when dead-heating in the Kachy Stakes over six furlongs here last month and rates the one to beat despite shouldering a penalty under Rossa Ryan.

Valiant Force took advantage of a good opportunity to score at Dundalk 15 days ago and this former Group Two winning juvenile deserves a crack at this better race.

Leovanni is an intriguing runner for Burke and James. She was an excellent two-year-old and showed promise when last seen at Haydock in May. She is likely to strip fitter for this and this five-furlong trip may be her optimum nowadays.

Democracy Dilemma is an interesting pace angle as he might disrupt the favourite's flow early on.

Best of the rest

Also at Lingfield, Paradias tops the seven runners assembled for the Midnite A Next Generation Betting App Handicap at 3.10pm. Nolton Cross could be the biggest danger, despite a 3lb rise for his hard-fought triumph the last day.

The 3.52pm BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Maiden Stakes at the same venue is also interesting, with Sin City flying the flag for Amo Racing on debut. Also making their first trip to a racetrack are Juddmonte's Kingman colt Turret (who is related to Hydrangea) and Shadwell's El Nay - who is trained by Richard Hannon.

At Newcastle, Seaview Rock will be well-fancied for Olly Murphy in the 3.20pm Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap Hurdle, running against the Nicky Richards-trained Saracen Beau.

The feature from Chepstow is the 3.40pm Pertemps Network Handicap Chase, which sees Martator and Harper's Brook lock horns.
