Perfect Love - who was bought by the Basher Watts Syndicate for 30,000gns as a yearling - could attract attention. The daughter of Palace Pier will be ridden by Alistair Rawlinson for Mick Appleby, who is closing in on 200 career winners at Dunstall Park.

2.28 Vichy - Horizon Dore and Zarraf lock horns in Listed company

Horizon Dore and Zarraf lock horns in today's Listed Prix Hubert Baguenault de Puchesse at Vichy.

At his peak, Patrice Cottier's charge was rated 120 after finishing third in the 2023 Champion Stakes but the six-year-old gelding has slowly regressed in the years since. However, it's clear some ability remains with the most recent of his nine wins coming in the Listed Le Vase d'Argent in April.

Younger and more progressive is four-year-old Zarraf - who is trained by Alicja Karkosa. This lad beat Arabian Force and most notably Wolferton winner Map Of Stars in the Prix Lord Seymour at ParisLongchamp in April before struggling in Group 2 company. The aforementioned form line is the best recent form in the race and on that showing, he should take all the beating.

New Ground finished fourth in last year's Derby and arrives here after finishing fifth in a conditions race at Chantilly in March. That was his first run after being gelded and if he retains his form from last term, he can challenge.

8.00 Wolverhampton - Oh So Perfect chases hat-trick

Also owned by Basher Watts and company is Oh So Perfect, who comes here chasing her hat-trick after over four months on the sidelines.

Having been an eight-race maiden when going to post at Chelmsford in February, she has since hit form - rising from a rating of 46 to a mark of 56 today. It remains to be seen whether the handicapper has got to grips with her, but don't rule out a third successive victory.

Based is a course and distance winner and has been dropped 1lb after disappointing under a 6lb penalty when a 4/1 joint-favourite at Newcastle recently.

Musical Soldier has been very unlucky of late, having been denied the last twice by under a length. Retaining his mark of 55 here, today could be the day for Ollie Sangster's charge with Jack Callan's 3lb claim potentially being the difference.
