Plans discussed for exciting juvenile hurdler
Owner Angela Yeoman is excited at what the rest of the season may hold for Sam Winner following his success at Cheltenham on Saturday
The Paul Nicholls-trained three-year-old confirmed the promise of an impressive win at Cheltenham in November with another facile success at Prestbury Park.
He currently occupies top spot in the ante-post betting for the Triumph Hurdle in March, but Yeoman is keeping her feet on the ground for the time being.
"He's a lovely horse and I'm lucky to have him," said the owner.
"He jumps well and I'd like him to go chasing at some stage, but he'll stay over hurdles for the time being.
"He's only a three-year-old and it's a question of how much you let a three-year-old do.
"We haven't talked about where he goes next - I don't like to talk about it too quickly after a race.
"I want him to get over the race and get galloping again before we think about that."
Yeoman was also able to issue a positive update on Taranis, who was far from disgraced in finishing seventh in last month's Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.
"He's absolutely fine and his handicap mark has gone down a bit (7lb), which is lovely," Yeoman continued.
"I thought he ran really well as it was always going to be tough against those younger horses.
"He's another lovely horse to have and he could go back to Cheltenham on New Year's Day."
