Tuesday afternoon's meeting at Newcastle has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track. Clerk of the course James Armstrong was due to inspect at 8am but heavy overnight rain has forced him to make an earlier call. He said: "We were forecast anything between eight and 10 millimetres of rain and we've had 10mm up to now. "There's a lull in the weather at the moment, but it is forecast to rain throughout the morning and into the afternoon and we have standing water in all sorts of places. "It was drying out nicely yesterday but with the water table so high, we have no option but to abandon."
