Three-time Irish Hennessy winner suffers accident at stable

Jodami - winner of the 1993 Cheltenham Gold Cup - passed away on Monday at the age of 23. The Peter Beaumont-trained horse had an accident at his stable in Brandsby, North Yorkshire, where he spent many winters. The last northern-trained winner of the Gold Cup, Jodami finished second in the race to The Fellow in 1994 and also won the Irish Hennessy three times. "It's very sad. We used to see him every morning at six and give him his oats in the evening," Beaumont said. "I rode him for many years myself when I was looking after the yearlings and we will all miss him. "I was at the press awards lunch yesterday and it was just near the end when they called me up to tell me. It's hard to say whether there was anything wrong with him before, but I do know there was nothing they could do. "Ireland, Cheltenham and Haydock were the main great days and he was no trouble at all - we never had a cross word."
