Rising star outlines plans for promising novices
Rebecca Curtis, one of the rising stars in National Hunt racing, will be represented by both Old Wigmore and Teaforthree in Saturday's Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Both horses have point-to-point experience and their trainer believes that the future is bright for the pair.
"As things stand, we will probably run both Old Wigmore and Teaforthree," said Curtis.
"Old Wigmore did it well at Hereford last time and he seems to have improved from his run. All he does is stay so Cheltenham should suit him. I think he would be happier on good ground rather than anything softer.
"I'm hoping he will make a nice chaser in time. He is still slightly backward and weak if anything, so I think next year, after a summer at grass, we will be looking forward to even better things over fences.
"Teaforthree ran well last time - it was the first time we ran him over three miles, which he has needed. Cheltenham, with that stiff uphill finish, should suit him too. He jumps really well and goes on good ground - we are looking forward to a good run from the pair of them."
Officials are still confident the meeting will beat the weather and the covers will remain down until Friday morning.
