Lisa Harrison targets Perth winners
Tuesday 12 May 2015 16:26, UK
Lisa Harrison is after more success at Perth on Wednesday night when she saddles three runners from her Cumbrian yard on the Solway coast.
Miss Harrison, the leading trainer at the UK's most northerly venue in 2014 with seven winners, kicks off the Party in the Park evening with Solway Prince in the Charlie Bird Memorial Novices' Handicap Hurdle.
She said: "He ran a nice race to finish second in a bumper at Perth last autumn so the track is fine. He hasn't a lot of hurdling experience and this is his first handicap so we'll just have to see how he gets on."
Miss Harrison is double-handed in the Scottish Berries Handicap Hurdle with Indepub and three-time course winner Solway Sam.
She added: "'Sam' has been been a legend for us and gave Ryan Day his first winner under Rules when winning over course and distance in July. He stays well and loves Perth.
"Indepub has only had five runs since coming to us and this will be his first try at three miles. He has won on soft ground so hopefully he will stay."
The evening's feature race, the £10,000 Salutation Hotel Perth Handicap Chase, sees Sam Twiston-Davies in action on his sole ride aboard Winged Crusader who shoulders a 7lb penalty for a recent wide-margin success at Kelso.
A crowd of around 3,000 is expected with students, young farmers and rugby clubs admitted free of charge.
