Jockey Wilson Renwick was taken to hospital in Hull following a fall from Sindarban in the BDN Construction Maiden Hurdle at Market Rasen.
The four-year-old gelding, trained by Donald McCain, fell at the first flight in the opening contest won by Countersign.
Renwick has been riding the majority of McCain's horses in the absence of the injured Jason Maguire.
"I don't know much except that he was moving and talking and they've taken him off to hospital," said McCain.
