Brisbane Broncos will face Melbourne Storm for a place in the NRL Grand Final after a stoic defensive performance defeated the Penrith Panthers 13-6.
Wayne Bennett's Broncos held firm when the Panthers laid siege to their tryline in the second half to win at Suncorp Stadium.
Winger Corey Oates scored the opening try for the Broncos before he was carried off after a sickening collision with team-mate Anthony Milford.
The Broncos led 6-0 at half-time and stretched their advantage with a runaway converted try by centre James Roberts before the Panthers hit back.
Prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard capped an outstanding game when he stormed over under the posts to put the Panthers back in it.
But Jordan Kahu's drop goal gave the Broncos a crucial seven-point lead with 10 minutes left which Brisbane defended to full-time.
It was a brutal encounter with Oates put out for the rest of the game with concussion and Penrith stand-off Tyrone May replaced with a suspected serious knee ligament injury.
