Paul Rowley has been confirmed as the new Castleford Tigers head coach after signing a three-year deal with the club.

Rowley left St Helens in July with the club on their way to missing out on the Super League play-offs for the first time, having previously been in charge of Salford prior to the club's financial collapse in 2025.

He takes over at the Tigers following the departure of Australian Ryan Carr for personal reasons two months ago.

"I'm looking forward to leading Cas Tigers as their new head coach," said Rowley, who becomes Castleford's seventh head coach since Daryl Powell departed in 2021.

"From meeting [director of rugby] Chris [Chester] and the board, it immediately felt like a place I wanted to be a part of. I'm keen to get started and enjoy a new journey with this proud club."

Chester said: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Paul Rowley to Castleford Tigers as our new head coach.

"Paul is a highly-respected coach within rugby league, and we believe he is the right person to lead this club into an exciting new chapter."

Chester also admitted there is the prospect of further recruitment in the coming weeks and months, adding: "I'm looking forward to working closely with Paul as we continue to strengthen the squad, develop our young talent and create a culture that delivers sustained success.

"We're delighted to have him on board and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together."

Castleford finished second bottom in Super League with only eight wins from their 27 games.
