Warrington formally warned by RFL after fans' behaviour at derby match against Widnes

Warrington have been given a formal warning by the RFL over the behaviour of their fans during the derby at Widnes over Easter.
Play was stopped and the referee took both teams off the pitch after a smoke canister was thrown onto the playing surface in the early stages of the match at the Select Security Stadium on April 2.
An RFL investigation discovered that Wolves fans also threw coins and bottles onto the pitch.
Warrington were found to be in breach of RFL operational rules regarding improper conduct and misconduct of spectators.
An RFL statement said: "The club were reminded of their responsibility to make best efforts to ensure there are no further incidents at future matches."
The RFL said its investigation showed there was no breach of rules relating to spectator behaviour by Widnes.
That will come as a big relief to the Vikings, who have a suspended fine hanging over them following a pitch invasion at last year's Challenge Cup semi-final.
