Former Warrington forward Paul Wood has been appointed by Championship club Leigh as a full-time strength and conditioning coach.
The 34-year-old, who made 309 appearances for the Wolves in Super League from 2000-14, has decided to retire as a player.
Wood joined Featherstone for the 2015 Championship season and was due to move to Swinton for 2016 until opting to pursue a new career path.
The Wigan-born prop demonstrated his toughness by playing on, and also conducting post-match interviews, in the 2012 Grand Final against Leeds despite a ruptured testicle that required immediate surgery after the game.
Leigh head coach Paul Rowley is delighted to have the Grand Final and Challenge Cup winner at the club.
Rowley said: "I'd like to welcome Paul to the coaching staff and look forward to working with him."
