Wayne Reittie scored two tries as Batley edged out Championship rivals Featherstone in the Qualifiers on Sunday.

The Mount Pleasant clash brought together two Kingstone Press Championship sides without a win in the Qualifiers, and there was only a Dominic Brambani one-pointer between them at the end of a hard-fought match.

Reittie's try gave Batley an early 4-0 lead, only for Luke Briscoe and James Duckworth to cross to put Featherstone 10-4 up with half-time approaching.

Brambani moved the Bulldogs within five points of their visitors with a drop goal on the stroke of half-time as the sides went into the break with Rovers 10-5 ahead.

In the second half Patrick Walker's penalty closed the gap to three points on the hour mark, before Reittie went over again with six minutes remaining to secure the narrowest of wins for Batley.

The win means the Bulldogs are still in the hunt for a place in the Million Pound game, after rivals Salford and Hull KR suffered losses over the weekend.

Feathertone's season is far from over, but it is likely they can not afford to lose any further games if they hope to fight for a place in Super League next month.
