A Tom Johnstone hat-trick helped Wakefield to a 30-6 win over Leeds Rhinos at Headingley on Monday.

Johnstone scored twice in the second half as Trinity capitalised on a 10-0 advantage at the break to run in a total of six tries, with Jack Ormondroyd offering the Rhinos' only response with just over ten minutes remaining.

Johnstone scored Wakefield's first try after receiving a pass from Scott Grix which Liam Finn converted for a 6-0 lead after 11 minutes.

Shortly thereafter Reece Lyne went over for the visitors' second try following good work by Kyle Wood, but Finn couldn't convert as his side carried a 10-0 lead into half-time.

Trinity switched it on in the second half, with Michael Sio scoring directly after the break and Joe Arundel crossing on the hour mark for a 20-0 lead, and the game was put to bed when Johnstone scored his second in the 65th minute.

Leeds were able to get onto the board on 69 minutes when Jack Ormondroyd crossed under the posts and Jordan Lilley added the extras to make it 26-6.
