Two players from Italy's rugby league squad will appear before an internal review committee into an alleged event during the World Cup on Sunday.
It is alleged that James Tedesco and Shannon Wakeman were involved in an altercation in Cairns following Italy's defeat to Ireland on Sunday.
A statement from Federazione Italian Rugby League confirmed an internal review was held on Monday and the players will now be asked to speak to a committee.
"As a result of an internal review conducted on Monday, October 30 by the Federazione Italian Rugby League of the incident, both players involved will appear before an internal review committee within the next 24hrs about their conduct during this incident," the statement read.
"The Federazione Italiana Rugby League have cooperated with the RLWC organisers about the incident and are satisfied that all measures have been taken to ensure compliance with the RLWC Integrity Unit and the player code of conduct."
Italy's next Rugby League World Cup match takes place against the United States in Townsville on November 5.
