Roosters release forward early so he can sign with Super League club

Hull FC have continued their recruitment drive for next season with the signing of forward Mark O'Meley from the Sydney Roosters. The 28-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Black and Whites after his NRL club agreed to release him from the remainder of his contract. O'Meley will not play again for the Roosters, who are currently bottom of the table, as he is due undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee that will rule him out for the remainder of the campaign Down Under. The Australia international admits it will be tough to leave Sydney but is looking forward to a new challenge in his career.

Wonderful time

"I have had a wonderful time at the Roosters and am able to take some great memories with me," he said. "Whilst it has been a lean season this year I am excited about the future of the club and the young players that we have coming through. "I am sad to be leaving but am looking forward to the experience over in the UK." O'Meley will join fellow Rooster Craig Fitzgibbon, who has signed a one-year contract with the option for an extra year, in moving to the KC Stadium. Hull have also recruited Jordan Tansey, who is currently on loan with Sydney, from Leeds Rhinos and St Helens scrum-half Sean Long.
