Paul Wood has been released from his current contract at Warrington Wolves and has signed for Championship club Featherstone Rovers.

Wood made his debut for Warrington in 2000 and leaves the club having made 339 appearances for the Primrose and Blue with a total of 50 tries.

During Wood’s 15-year career he has been part of a side which has won three Challenge Cups and competed in Super League Grand Finals as well as witnessing the move from Wilderspool to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “I’d like to thank Paul for his contribution to the club.

“He's provided 15 years of great service. Paul expressed a desire for a new challenge and this request was granted. Competition for places is tough and we need people ready for that challenge.

There is an exciting time ahead with the new staff, players and improvement of training facilities, therefore we require everyone to be 100% committed to the Warrington cause. We wish Paul and his family all the best for the future.”
