Former England forward Gareth Hock has been fined £1,000 for posting inappropriate material on Twitter.

The former Wigan, Widnes and Salford second rower, who now plays for Championship club Leigh, was found guilty of "conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game".

The Rugby Football League ruled the 31-year-old was in breach of the governing body's respect and social media policies.

The punishment relates to comments, which included the use of unacceptable language, made on Twitter in February around the time of a six-match ban imposed for using his knees in the tackle.
