Bad blunder costs Batley

Batley looked as though they had survived a superb Featherstone fightback until centre Shaun Ainscough gifted the Rovers a try after the final hooter.

Featherstone were 26-6 down with just 10 minutes remaining but launched a remarkable fightback, however their efforts looked to have fallen just short as Batley were in control of the ball as the hooter sounded.

What happened next will no doubt haunt Shaun Ainscough for a long time to come as he decided to kick the ball towards touch instead of running the ball out. His moment of triumph soon turned to horror as his poor kick was snapped up by Rovers winger Will Sharp who raced away to score.

Paul Sykes then added the conversion for a remarkable 28-26 win for Featherstone.
