Salford and Wakefield agree Pauli Pauli, Junior Sa'u loan swap

Wakefield and Salford have completed a swap deal with forward Pauli Pauli joining the Red Devils and centre Junior Sa'u going to Belle Vue, both on a month's loan.

Sa'u, 32, a former Samoa and New Zealand international, has made only two appearances in the last three months for Salford while Pauli has been on the bench for the Yorkshire side's last five matches.

Trinity have made a move for Sa'u to offset the absence through injury of threequarters Joe Arundel, Bill Tupou and Tom Johnstone and he is likely to make his debut in Saturday's game at London Broncos.

Pauli, 24, who joined Wakefield from Newcastle Knights 18 months ago, is set to go straight into Salford coach Ian Watson's squad for Friday's game against Super League leaders St Helens on Sky Sports.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester said: "To bring in a player of Junior's quality at this point of the season is great for us.

"With Joe and Bill still six weeks away from returning, the arrival of Junior really strengthens us and adds some real good depth.

"Pauli will head the other way on loan with a view to getting more minutes. His game time has been limited recently with the form of Justin Horo, Danny Kirmond and James Batchelor so it's an opportunity for Pauli to get some more game time at Salford."

Watson said: "This deal with Wakefield means Junior's going to be able to get some playing time and gain match fitness.

"We've also been able to bring in a strike weapon, which will be a massive boost.

"I've tracked Pauli since he first came over here and any team will struggle to stop him."
