Super League: Salford's Harrison Hansen apologises for Wigan Warriors celebrations
Tuesday 7 October 2014 16:47, UK
Salford Red Devils' captain for 2015 Harrison Hansen has apologised for celebrating with his former Wigan Warriors team-mates in the wake of their win over Warrington Wolves last Friday.
Hansen has denied singing with Wigan after they reached the Grand Final with a 16-12 success over the Wolves on home soil last week, stating he was just congratulating his friends.
The 28-year-old conceded he was left in a ‘compromising position’, something that will not happen again as he remains committed to the Red Devils cause.
Salford owner Marwan Koukash has accepted Hansen’s apology, writing: “Happy with the statement Harrison made and this is the end of it,” while the club have confirmed the player has not been fined for his actions.
Clarification
"I just want to clarify at no point was I singing my heart out with the Wigan boys. That is ridiculous and clearly a childish dig at Salford," he wrote on his Facebook page.
"I admit it was an error of judgement and mistake on my part to put myself in a compromising position, but I was only there to congratulate some of my mates.
"People who know me know I am proud and extremely happy to be a Salford player and especially to be the new captain.
"I realise now and apologise on how it may have looked and will not make that mistake again, but just to know that I'm 100 per cent committed to help make Salford a driving force in Super League."
