Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have reached a mutual agreement to release Jordan Tansey from his contract with the club with immediate effect.

Tansey has played 12 matches for Wakefield and scored scored one try after joining them from Castleford Tigers midway through last season.

However, the 29-year old has been unable to secure a regular starting spot for the Wildcats and had a short loan spell at Huddersfield Giants earlier this season during which he played two games.

Wakefield chairman Michael Carter said: "We would like to thank Jordan for his efforts whilst with the club and wish him all the best for the future."

Tansey started his career with Leeds Rhinos and had a short spell in Australia with Sydney Roosters in 2009.

He returned to England with Hull FC and also had short stints with Dewsbury, Crusaders and York before joining Castleford.
