Prop joins former coach Kear at Belle Vue

Prop Paul King has signed a 12-month contract at Wakefield Wildcats after his release from Hull Hull's longest serving player is a straight replacement for New Zealand forward James Stosic, who has been released due to overseas quota restrictions. King will join up with former coach John Kear, with whom he was a member of Hull's Challenge Cup-winning team in 2005. The 30-year-old made over 200 first-team appearances for his home-town club and is a welcome addition to the Wildcats according to Kear. Kear said: "I'm delighted that Paul has agreed to join us. I worked with him when I was coach at the KC Stadium and have a great deal of respect for him, both as a man and as a player. "He's a very experienced player who has appeared at the highest levels of the sport and will be a valuable addition to our squad for next year. "Because we have not been able to retain James Stosic, the addition of Paul King will see us maintain our front row power."

Experience

And Kear believes that King, who won a solitary cap for Great Britain in 2001, will add valuable experience to his squad. He said: "Paul's a quality player with a shrewd rugby league brain. He's still got plenty to offer in Super League. "Given the competitive nature of the competition, it is important that we're able to call upon experienced players like Paul King so that we can blend in the younger players at the right moment and provide them with the appropriate kind of leadership." King joins Daryl Millard (Canterbury Bulldogs), ex-Bradford trio Ben Jeffries, Terry Newton, Glenn Morrison and Shane Tronc (North Queensland) for the Wildcats for their 2010 campaign. Head of strength and conditioning Colin Sanctuary has agreed a new two-year contract with Wakefield to become the club's head of sports science.
