Bradford insist improvements to Odsal Stadium will still be carried out despite the news that they'll miss out on a £15million grant.

Super League club miss out on funding due to council cuts

Bradford remain confident that ground improvements to Odsal Stadium will still be carried out despite missing out on a £15million grant. The Super League club have been hit by the decision by Bradford Council to pull the plug on proposed funding for the Odsal Sporting Village project. The move, taken due to widespread cuts in local government, did not come as a complete surprise to Bulls chairman Peter Hood. He has now stated that plans for the development of their current home will continue, albeit with the possibility of being on a "scaled-down version".

Continuing progress

"It may well still prove possible to deliver the sports village as envisaged in a number of phases, albeit over a longer period of time," he said. "On the other hand it may be possible only to deliver a scaled-down version. "From a purely Bradford Bulls perspective, whatever scheme is finally developed it will deliver the improvements we seek. "The club will continue to progress the sports village with senior figures from Bradford Council and our other partners in the sports village project. "At the same time, we will also continue to explore and develop other options."
