Huddersfield hooker Kyle Wood has been ruled out for the rest of the season and his team-mate Brett Ferres could suffer a similar fate.

Giants coach Paul Anderson has confirmed that Wood, who has missed just four of his team's 23 matches this year, broke his right foot during Saturday's 14-12 win over Catalans Dragons in Perpignan, where Ferres suffered a torn bicep.

England forward Ferres, who has been sidelined already this season with ankle and knee injuries, will undergo further medical tests to assess the full extent of his latest setback.

"It's possible Brett's injury will be similar to the one Craig Kopczak had the other season," said Anderson.

"Koppy was able to play on with it until the end of the season so we're obviously hoping it's something similar for Brett. He's now been booked in to see a surgeon to get a final assessment.

"But as soon as Woody underwent his scans it was pretty clear what the injury was.

"He suffered multiple fractures in his foot and will undergo surgery later this week to have it plated and wired. He'll then have the wires taken out later on and should only miss the first couple of weeks of the next pre-season."
