Maguire hoping to see half-back in action on Friday

Australian half-back Brett Finch is set to make his debut for Wigan in Friday's clash with Warrington, live on Sky Sports. The former Melbourne Storm player joined the Engage Super League champions on a two-year contract in the close season, but was forced to undergo neck surgery. Finch, 29, is now back in full training and is set to be named in the 19-man squad for the top-of-the-table clash at the DW Stadium. "He's coming along really well," said Warriors coach Michael Maguire. "We'll talk to the right people tomorrow to see if he is right for Friday. "He will bring a lot to the team. He has a lot of experience and enthusiasm. He's a very exciting player." Maguire will recall full-back Sam Tomkins, who has completed a one-match ban, but stand-off Paul Deacon is likely to be given another week to recover from the head injury he sustained in the win over Hull nine days ago. "We'll assess him throughout the week but it will be a struggle for him for Friday," said Maguire.

Mellor

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Joe Mellor is likely to return to Harlequins for another loan spell. Mellor, who made his Super League debut for the Londoners against St Helens 11 days ago, was recalled by the Warriors after Deacon's injury and Tomkins' ban and was an unused replacement in last Friday's game at Huddersfield. "I'm in talks with Rob (Powell, Quins coach) at the moment," Maguire added. "He says there is an opportunity again for him. "We've got to decide whether he stays with us for one more week or whether he goes straight back down there and plays with them."
