Papua New Guinea international David Mead has joined Catalans Dragons on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old, who can play anywhere across the back line, joins from the Brisbane Broncos, having previously been with the Gold Coast Titans.

He will bring a wealth of experience to the south of France, having captained Papau New Guinea at the recent World Cup.

"My family and I are grateful for the opportunity the Catalans Dragons have given us," Mead said.

"My time at the Broncos under Wayne (Bennett) has been extremely enjoyable and now I look forward to learning all about the French culture when I join my new team-mates, coaching staff and management at the Dragons in a few weeks."

His signing represents a real coup for Catalans coach Steve McNamara, who is overseeing a rebuild ahead of his first full season in charge.

"His blistering speed and attacking assets have been proven in the NRL over a number of years and these were further enhanced with his recent performances for Papua New Guinea," the former England boss said.
