Catalans Dragons have released winger Dimitri Pelo after receiving compensation from rugby union club Montpellier. The Top 14 team had wanted to sign Pelo immediately, but the Dragons were unwilling to let him leave with three months remaining on his contract. President Bernard Guasch said: "Although Dimitri has not been selected, in terms of years at the club and the player's value, it was unthinkable for us to let our winger leave before the end of his contract. "An agreement has finally been reached and it was important for us, as a principle, to show that anything and everything could be done." Catalans cannot qualify for the Engage Super League play-offs, with just two games remaining of the regular season.
