Hull KR have decided to release Scotland international Sonny Esslemont and full-back Josh Guzdek.

Esslemont, the 21-year-old back rower, has signed a one-year contract with Kingstone Press League One club Keighley.

And 20-year-old Guzdek has opted for a one-year deal with Championship club Dewsbury.

Both Esslemont, who made six first-team appearances, and Guzdek, who played twice in Super League, were out of contract at the end of the season.

Hull KR coach Chris Chester believes both players will have a better chance to develop their careers away from the club.

Chester said: "These are good opportunities for Sonny and Josh to get some regular game time and test themselves against more experienced players.

"They are both good young kids who have been a pleasure to coach and everybody at the club wishes them all the best for the future."
