Wigan have allowed young prop Ben Davies to join Super League rivals Castleford Tigers on a one-month loan deal.

Second rower Walker heads to Barrow on a dual registration

Wigan have allowed young prop Ben Davies to join Engage Super League rivals Castleford on a one-month loan deal. Davies was able to train with the Tigers on Friday and is set to be named in their squad for Sunday's game against Bradford at the PROBIZ Coliseum. The 21-year-old, who made his first-team debut for the Warriors in 2010, has previously enjoyed loan spells at Championship clubs Widnes and Barrow. "I am really looking forward to this chance to play some Super League football," he said on Wigan's official website. "Chris Tuson spent some time on loan with Castleford last season and really benefitted from the experience and hopefully I can do the same."

Good opportunity

Davies becomes the second loan signing by the Tigers in a week - prop Rob Parker arrived on a similar deal from Salford City Reds. The Yorkshire club saw front-row duo Jake Emmitt and Nick Fozzard pick up injuries in Wednesday's 26-16 defeat at Wigan, while fellow props Craig Huby and Jon Walker are long-term absentees. Warriors head coach Michael Maguire added: "This is a good opportunity for Ben to gain some vital first team experience in Super League with Castleford which will benefit both the player and the Wigan club. "We have a good relationship with Terry Matterson and the Tigers and are more than happy for Ben to join them on loan." Meanwhile, Wigan have announced that Jonny Walker has joined Barrow on a dual registration. The second rower could make his debut for the Raiders in Saturday's home game with Halifax.
