Castleford winger James Clare off to League One York

Castleford winger James Clare will spend some time at League One York in a bid to help him regain lost confidence.

Clare, who has appeared in seven of Castleford’s 12 Super League matches this season, has been dropped for Sunday’s visit of Catalans Dragons.

Instead, he will now appear for the City Knights when they take on Swinton in the third tier of professional rugby league.

Tigers' coach Daryl Powell said: "'Sticks' didn't have his best game last week against Salford and I am just looking for him to build some confidence.

“York will give him a chance to play this week and that's important for him. I'd like James to work on his back field work, energy, fight and determination. If he fixes that up then he'll have a good opportunity at getting back in the side.

"James is the first player to go out on dual registration for us this season and the game time is needed."

Clare's place against the Dragons is likely to go to Australian Denny Solomona who has recovered from injury, while former Leeds prop Ryan Bailey is set to make his debut.
