England Test forward James Graham could be facing a five-week NRL suspension for his part in an incident which sparked ugly scenes during the Canterbury Bulldogs’ loss to South Sydney on Friday.
Graham could be banned for one to two weeks for an attempted kick charge-down which left South Sydney scrum-half Adam Reynolds with knee ligament damage which will sideline him for around four months.
And Canterbury skipper Graham is also set to be banned for a further two to three weeks because of his angry reaction to referee Gerard Sutton's decision to award a penalty for the tackle.
The decision proved match-turning, Bryson Goodwin kicking the late penalty to give National Rugby League champions Sydney an 18-17 victory, after they had trailed throughout the rematch of last year's grand final.
Canterbury fans were incensed by the contentious decision and some may face life bans for hurling water bottles at the officials as they left the field.
Graham’s team mate David Klemmer was sin-binned for verbally abusing the referee, and the duo were among four Bulldogs players cited following the stormy encounter.
South Sydney's English forward George Burgess was also cited, having been charged with making dangerous contact.
