Leigh Centurions have signed utility forward Jordan Thompson from Hull FC on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old, who made over 100 appearances for the Airlie Birds since joining from Castleford in 2014, had fallen behind Brad Fash and Masi Matongo in the pecking order at the KCOM Stadium.

Leigh were relegated from Super League after losing to Catalans in the Million Pound Game and head coach Neil Jukes hopes Thompson can help them return to the top flight at the first attempt.

"I have monitored Jordan closely for a number of years and he has played a lot of games for a top-four club," said Jukes.

"He is ready to go on and achieve a lot more things in his career and has plenty of mileage in his legs.

"Having spoken to Jordan, his hunger and appetite for the game shone through and we are looking forward to welcoming him to Leigh Centurions."

Thompson scored 28 tries in 80 games for hometown club Castleford before joining Hull, while he represented England at academy level.

Hull head coach Lee Radford said: "I'd like to thank Jordan for his time at the club. He always trained and played as an energiser and played with such energy to help others around him.

"The development of Brad Fash and Masi Matongo has limited Jordan's playing time this year and I understand that someone at his age needs to be playing regular first-team football."
