Teenager one of several changes for NSW in State of Origin decider.

New South Wales will hand teenager Mitchell Pearce his State of Origin debut in what will be a baptism of fire in the deciding match of the series in Sydney on July 3. The Blues had opened up the series with a surprise victory in Sydney, but Queensland hit back hard back home in Brisbane in game two as they inflicted a record-equalling 30-0 hammering on New South Wales. With the series now tied at 1-1 the teams head back to Sydney for the decider on July 2 and New South Wales have responded to their mauling by bringing in a new man at scrum-half. 19-year-old Pearce will make his State of Origin bow alongside Sydney Roosters team-mate Braith Anasta in a new half-back pairing for the game. The duo come in to replace the injured Peter Wallace and Greg Bird who played in the 30-0 hammering in the second game.

Debuts

Another man will make his debut in the game with Canberra Raider Joel Monaghan named in the New South Wales team to replace another injury victim Mark Gasnier. Jarryd Hayne returns on the wing after missing out on the second game with injury - and he takes the place of Steve Turner. Willie Mason will play in the front row while Craig Fitzgibbon moves into the second row - and prop Ben Cross returns from injury to claim a place on the bench with Newcastle team-mate Steve Simpson missing out. Unsurprisingly Queensland have named an unchanged 17-man squad after their impressive performance in Brisbane. Hooker Cameron Smith will captain the Marrons at Sydney's ANZ Stadium with normal skipper Darren Lockyer continuing to miss out with a knee injury. Queensland will have to improve on their record at the ANZ Stadium to take the title though as they have just one win and a draw out of 13 previous visits.
