The 2008 World Cup final at Queensland's Suncorp Stadium is already a near sell-out.
Only a handful of hospitality packages remain for the November 22 showpiece, with the public allocation almost completely exhausted.
Tickets are still available for the other 17 matches and the official opening ceremony in Sydney on October 26.
The Queensland government also unveiled a week of state-wide festivities to celebrate the culmination of the 29-day tournament.
Tournament director Colin Love said: "The enthusiasm of the Queensland public and indeed from overseas tourists has guaranteed the event a spectacular closing night on November 22.
"There are 18 games to be played in this event in three states and the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) over 29 days and there will be a chance for every fan to sample some of the action.
"The fact that only a handful of tickets remain for the final is a reminder that it is time to start planning which matches you want to see because the event is now on our doorstep.
"We still have a lot of work ahead to make it the success that we believe it will be but I can tell you that the progress to date has surpassed all expectations."
Australia have won nine of the 12 World Cups contested so far, including the last six, with Great Britain winning the other three.
All 10 nations will name interim squads of about 40 players on August 1, with final line-ups due to be announced on October 7.
