France captain Jerome Guisset insists his side will improve in the wake of their 36-18 opening World Cup win over Scotland.
Guisset scored two tries in Canberra and the veteran prop believes France can progress to the semi-final qualifier by beating Fiji on Saturday.
"If we play this kind of game next week (against Fiji) then I'm sure we can come up with the win," Guisset said.
"Then we'll look at the next game. At the moment we just want to put our heads down, work hard, and see what Fiji can throw at us next week.
"In the first half against Scotland we made a lot of mistakes, and that's not the way to play the game.
"We were under a bit of pressure at the start of the second half. But once we stuck to our game plan I thought we were pretty strong.
"Our bench gave us a bit of punch which was good for the rest of the side."
Welcome return
Guisset marked his return to Canberra - where he played four times for the Raiders in 1999 - with an unlikely two tries, the second of them crucial.
And the 30-year-old admitted he had moved into unknown territory in being a match-winner.
"I'm not too used to scoring so I can't comment much," Guisset joked.
"I was just in the right place at the right time I guess. It's good to score sometimes and I'm hoping to keep that up."
Guisset's coach John Monie felt his forward star should be less modest.
"Jerome said he was lucky to score the tries, but unless you push up in those situations you don't score," Monie said.
"He played 70 minutes of the game and he's a front rower. If you work hard, you get lucky.
"I don't know where we'll finish up, but we want to improve every game. There's no telling where we can finish."
