Mat Rogers, who represented Australia in both rugby codes, has confirmed he is to come out of retirement to play for former club, the Gold Coast Titans.
Rogers played a combined 56 tests for his country in both league and union and announced he had retired from the game after leaving the Titans last August.
However, he revealed via his
Twitter account that he has re-signed for the Titans and will now look to help the struggling side who are are in last place in the NRL with four wins in 15 matches this season.
Rogers said: "I love the team and I hate seeing them hurting and the fans hurting... and I want to help."
Rogers said in a statement issued by the club that he will train hard in an effort to feature in the Titans' match against the New Zealand Warriors on July 8 - that would be his 200th NRL appearance.
"I haven't trained at NRL intensity for the last few months so the first thing will be to get back into the swing of things on the training paddock," Rogers stated.
"If I can get back to playing then that would be a bonus, but my priority at the moment is just making a contribution to the squad in some way."
